I went to the Christian Resources Exhibition today.
I spent some money on books, clip art and so on. I also collected two or three tons of paper to file. It was interesting and enjoyable.
But, looking through the stuff I have brought back some things seem to be missing. Why am I not finding clear mission statements backed by ethical and environmental policies? If a company wants to sell itself to Churches then I would like to see them backing this up by declaring who they are and their position on these matters.
Obviously many of the stands are not commercial or are related to charities, but if you want to sell churches stationary, audio, lighting, furniture etc then, I at least, feel that these things are important.
Of course I am writing this from a weblog which does not have a stated mission or ethical and environmental policy - maybe I had better add them. I also recognise that, at least in my experience, Churches are often not as well organised in this regard as they ought to be.
Well done to the Co-Operative bank (incidentally my bank for many years) for their leadership in this area.
A thumbs down to the stationary company who included samples of Nescafe.

Oh and an honourable mention to Kingdom Coffee see http://www.kingdomcoffee.co.uk/index.html
