I have not written about our home systems recently, yet there has been some progress.
Firstly, I have properly installed a cat 5 cable to upstairs where I have a 100mb switch on the landing. Currently I am running temporary cables to the boys bedrooms but at least they can now use the SunRays in their rooms. Suddenly there seems to be a lot more space downstairs.
Our printer (Kyocera colour laser) is now properly installed in the utility room, the SunRays have been able to print on it for a while but, after a bit of tweaking, the firewall now lets my laptop print using it's wireless connection. That would have been handy last week when I printed the new Raunds contact newsletter (250 copies, 4 sheets A4 double sided), fortunately we should be sorting out a different printing solution for the next issue.
Nothing interesting to report about the SunRays except that we have found a place to install one in the kitchen as soon as I get an extra screen and a wall mounting bracket. Don't think I'll bother with a touch screen for the moment.
There is some more cabling to do for tidiness and flexibility. For example I want an outlet in the living room so I can use a SunRay there rather than my laptop.
We have a copy of Leonardo running our Intranet. I want to move this so that it runs under PythonPaste so that I can experiment with Turbogears, Python Eggs and all the other good stuff that I keeping finding but not having time to play with (that list now includes Textile, particularly PyTextile which I would like to plug into Leonardo). I can also then use the File Sharing demo application that Ian is including with Python Paste which will save me writing something for Leonardo (at least for the moment, it may still be needed for cgi only hosting solutions that I am using for external sites).
I suspect though that I will be wanting to look for hosting solutions that will support Python Paste via one of the higher speed server connections (scgi maybe). So I am interested in a reseller account that can handle upto 50 virtual domains, each using Python Paste to host a number of python applications. Problem is that I am sure that I will need to track Python Paste fairly closely for a while so will need a fair amount of control.

I've been meaning to paste-deploy-ify PyFileServer, which is perhaps a nicer way to share files. It might be an interesting fit for Leonardo too, since it's possible to use a non-filesystem backend. http://pyfilesync.berlios.de/pyfileserver.html

Ian,
Sounds good to me. I look forward to that. Mind you the combination of non DAV and DAV based file sharing would be good so I would probably have both running as paste applications. Choice is good.
