As someone who has recently moved and started a new career I need to get used to a new level of public visibility.
The combination of living in a smaller town, of being the Methodist Minister, of riding sensible (or wierd) bikes (which they are depends on your point of view) and having a weblog means that it is impossible to be anonymous. I guess it helps to be somewhat extrovert (in a Myers Briggs sense).
So I thought I might play with this idea a little and try a few experiments to explore the terrain.
First I'll try saying Hi to Debbie (and thanks for all you and Penny did for this mornings service), Les and Lucy, knowing that they will see this.
Then lets see how quick the Raunds Methodist Web Community is. Would everyone (that is the worship and junior church leaders) coming to the meeting tomorrow evening at my house please bring a favourite Christmas decoration.
Finally to the town. When you see a recumbent trike or bike riding through the area around Raunds then shout "Hi Dave!" (just like Sandra from the Community Church already does ;-) I'll cancel this one as soon as there are any other recumbent riders around here, so far I have not seen any.

I won't be at the meeting as I don't qualify on any of the grounds. However my favourite christmas decorations are the old Campagnolo Record sprockets that we hang on the tree.

Hi Dave
I've been in the loft and found the boxes of Christmas decorations, don't know if David will be impressed with the way I've left the boxes up there!!
See you tomorrow night

Chris,
That is a new one on me ;-) Care to comment on the theological significance? On second thoughts, please don't as then I might have to do the same for the chocolate decorations that we buy (and eat) each year!
Debbie,
I am impressed (or worried ;-)!

I find that being publically known as a would-be minister encourages me to lead a more virtuous life.

John, Eating rabbits is virtuous?
Actually, this is something I've thought about quite a bit. Don't know if I'll ever really get used to it....

John and Rev Mommy,
Agree with you both. I also think it can be a big issue for the rest of the family, especially if they have not grown up with you in the ministry the whole time.
