See St Pixels The Cartoon Blog by Dave Walker.
The Ship of Fools online church project ‘Church of Fools’ has been relaunched as ‘St Pixels‘.
Dave also says
‘Hurrah for the Methodists!’ as I often say. (People look at me oddly.)
Dave, I would just like to put on the record that I do not look at you oddly for that reason. I look at lots of odd people oddly.

Well, I signed up to St. Pixels and I'm not sure I "get" it. The original Church of Fools was a three-dimensional "church" where your character walked around; it was cool and I had some amazing conversations there. I do realise that it was incredibly expensive.
St. Pixel's is a blog and chat-room as far as I can see. Maybe I've just not explored the site thoroughly enough.
No disrespect intended, Dave, but I can't for the life of me understand why people prefer to have conversations and debates on blogs than on discussion groups like Ship of Fools. The discussion group format is an awful lot easier.

Pam,
I don't know that users prefer blogs. They are just very different and have better means of control which obviously was an issue with the original ship of fools.
Another difference is between the real-time nature of chat rooms and virtual worlds, that appeals to different people (I don't really like IRC, I find it stressful and distracting and can't keep track afterwards).

Fair enough about real time chat. I'm talking about discussion groups, though, rather than chat rooms. They aren't real time. (For example: http://tinyurl.com/j8ndn)
As far as I can see, St. Pixel's is just reproducing everything that Ship of Fools has (since SOF has a chat-room as well). Except St Pixel's is using blog software rather than discussion-group software - and blog software is more awkward, as far as I'm concerned.
I'm assuming that St. Pixel's now has nothing to do with Ship of Fools? Otherwise I can't see the point in the duplication. Hah! It's like St. Pixel's is SOF's church plant!

Pam,
Generally web based forums work much less well than email mailing lists. Tracking what you have read and moving rapidly around is a pain. Blogs and email both have the advantage that you don't have to go and check if there is new content. Email handles threading better and scales much further. With web based forums the barriers to entry are so low that the noise to signal ratio goes crazy.
