Pedallingmythoughts has been trying out bikes for to allow family cycling to include his eldest son who has cerebal palsy.
He went to London recumbents (which is where I bought my Challenge Fujin) and seems to have fallen in love with the Hase Pino Tour (see Pedallingmythoughts: London Recumbents and the Hase Pino Tour).
We have seen a number of these on the Bike Culture Weeks we have been on, plus a few around about.
They seem to be to be an excellent choice. They are manouverable, give the stoker a much better view (and comfy seat), they make talking easy, they can have a superb stand making it easy to help the stoker onto the seat. The handlebars look weird but work well. They also work well when you need to ride them solo.

Dave,
Thanks for the link :-) You are right about the handlebars looking weird on the Pino Tour but I was surprised at how comfortable it was. Being able to ride it solo was a really important feature so that we can drop my son off at places on it and still get back.

I used to get lots of shouted comments when solo riding a tandem after taking the kids somewhere. For smaller kids I still like trailers (trets once they can help). But where there is a need for a larger sized stoker the Pino is a great option.
I don't know if it standard but one good feature on the Pino's we have seen is that the stoker can rest while the captain pedals. One lady was unable to pedal at all but still enjoyed riding the pino a lot. They had an electric hub motor in the front wheel so hills were still possible.
