This is a big weekend for Raunds Methodist Church. Yesterday was pretty frantic with preparations and today will be one of the busiest Sundays of the year (reminds me of 42: Not like us).
Today Rev Alison Tomlin, Chair of the Northampton Methodist District is preaching in Raunds (for the first time). We also have a nativity and a full three course Christmas lunch for 80 people. The lunch is in the same sanctuary as the service will only a 30 minute gap to clear and prepare.
I won't be there for the service as I am leading worship and Holy Communion at Thrapston (the Advent Holy Communion is one of my absolute favourites) but I will be coming back for the food :-)
Yesterday was frantic because the new mixer desk arrived on Friday and so we had a team of us trying to get all the PA equipment setup for the first time (the band will be playing through the PA for the first time). At the same time others were decorating the tree, still more doing lots of preparation for lunch and in the midst of all that the Junior Church were trying to have a dress rehearsal.
If only all churches had such a large group of committed enthusiastic and lovely people, here it is a huge percentage of our total membership and I thank God for everyone of them. It was also good to see quite a few of our newer faces getting involved.
We have all been looking forward to having Alison as an honoured guest and being able to show her all that God is doing here in Raunds. We are very pleased that we are going to be able to show her that all the pigeon mess has gone from the front of the Church building (although we decided not to serve her pigeon pie but to let her enjoy a full Christmas meal).
Anyway got to dash off to Thrapston (oh and will also pop into our folks at Old Weston). Tonight we have an outdoor Carol Festival at Ringstead (in the car park by Dodson and Horrell) - last year it was a huge turnout. This year we are hoping for even better, especially after the advertising during the Carol Singing at the Social Club on Friday. I am welcomed at these events providing I only do the announcements and promise not to sing :-)

Sounds it like it should have been a great day!
