After all this talk of Barth this cartoon from today seems appropriate:

Dave, I've been using an older version one of these for years. Most of the time it works fine, and does indeed keep "my God" (as I like to refer to him) small enough to fit (hide?) in my pocket. That, of course, means I don't have the embarrassment of people noticing that I carry him around all the time. (Annoyingly, he seems to insist that I take him everywhere. Perhaps he's just too shy to go out on his own.)
Unfortunately, he keeps popping out when I least expect it, and I'm finding it harder and harder to keep him under wraps. Perhaps one of these new GRMs would do a better job. After all, I wouldn't want everyone knowing I'm a Christian. Goodness knows how that might cramp my style.
Yes, in this modern world of miniaturised marvels, surely everyone can see that "Big Gods" are a thing of the past? I believe the new, smaller versions are also much more energy-efficient, and require significantly less maintenance. With the latest generation of mini-Gods, I understand running costs can be as low as 2% of income (forget this tithing nonsense!), and that they demand less than an hour a week of the owner's time.
Must be the way forward!
